Dennis Tarry, president and CEO of Dave Wilson Nursery, showcases the
graft of a young almond tree in one of the nursery’s plots of land.
Inside the Turlock facility, the class saw first-hand why the plant was named
“Plant of the Year” by Food Engineering magazine in 2014, a testament to the
high-level of food safety implemented by team members.
The Class of 2016 observed the various greenhouses where Duarte Nursery
keeps its young trees. The nursery is known for its Clean Plant system,
where the plants are grown in containers, never touching open soil until
reaching a grower’s property.
