“Some of the main problems in agriculture today include our drought and a declining
number of workers. With this drought, it is important to use our water as effectively as we
can but still get the most out of our field. We also need to get out in the work field to help
those in need.”

“One of the most pressing
problems in agriculture
today is securing a steady
water supply. I hope to
learn the skills required
to help in this and many
other areas while at Cal
Poly and bring those
techniques back home
to our farm.”

“I believe a key problem within agriculture today is the need for health education of all
ages. Knowing exactly where our food comes from is very important because companies
add harmful amounts of sugar and fats to packaged foods. As a member of 4-H, I
was taught it is easy to eat healthy and the resources are not far from reach in the rich
agricultural area that we live in.”

“Ag literacy is a problem the agriculture industry faces. Many consumers don’t fully
comprehend how much they rely on the agriculture industry. I feel that more people
should be knowledgeable about where their food and clothes come from. As an
agricultural educator, I can help promote and educate others on why agriculturalists are
key to feeding the world.”

“Our state produces so many crops, provides jobs and
livelihoods to so many people – it is amazing what we are
able to achieve. I want to inform the public about all that we
are able to achieve and all the mouths that we feed. I want
the public to be educated about this industry.”
