May shipments were 196 million pounds and fell in the upper range of industry expectations. This is 1% lower compared to last month and 24% lower compared to last year’s record for the month of May. Exports, at 141 million pounds, were essentially flat versus last month but down 27% to last year. Domestic shipments were 55 million pounds, down 3% to last month and 14% to last year.
