Tara Fry – Kingsburg
Fall 2018 School: CSU Fresno
Major: Ag Education
I would like to finish my
undergraduate degree and then
receive my master's degree to
become a high school teacher in the
valley. With my various experiences
in 4-H and FFA in and out of the community, I want
to educate the future of America and incorporate
the ideals and lessons my father has taught me which
was handed down and taught to him by his father
from multiple generations. I can help motivate and
inspire children to graduate from college and make
a difference in this world specifically in agriculture
following in my footsteps as I did in my family’s.
Manjot Gidha – Elk Grove
Fall 2018 School: CSU Sacramento
Major: Business Administration (Accounting)
I would like to become a CPA to
manage a firm and turn it into a
corporation that sells bonds and
stock generating profits to be used
for financially supporting students
who are transitioning from high school to college.
Helping students will result in more students encouraged
to earn a degree and in turn will lead to them being
more qualified for jobs. If other companies also focus
on these students, then unemployment may decrease
even more. I will use my desired degree to help
students in need.
Grace Guthrie – Porterville
Fall 2018 School: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
Major: Ag Business
I realize how little people understand
about the source of their food. Those
of us in agriculture are a very small
segment of the population competing
for resources that the majority does not believe we
deserve. Now more than ever, we must communicate
with, and educate the public so that they understand the
importance of the industry that feeds them. I have worked
diligently in my studies and will continue to do so, in
preparation to contribute to solutions for my family, my
community, and my industry.
Carlyn Marsh – Arbuckle
Fall 2018 School: UC Davis
Major: Managerial Ag Economics
There are so many businesses that
have great potential in our world,
but many of them fail due to structural
integrity. Proper management of a
company will create an atmosphere
where people are compelled to do their best work,
which strengthens the company and improves the
lives of everyone who comes in contact with it.
By being successful in my chosen career, I will be
able to positively impact the agricultural industry
through the growth and prosperity of agriculturally-
related businesses.
Hannah Murphy – Stockton
Fall 2018 School: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
Major: Ag Communications
People need food, and world hunger
is a major global issue. With the
world’s population rapidly growing,
the need for expanding and improving
agriculture is becoming more
urgent. Yet, each year farmland is decreasing while
urban development is on the rise. Through my work,
I will strive for improved farming practices and seek
affordable ways to bring nutritious foods to our growing
population, for future generations to come.
